“I Was Told I Needed Surgery… But My Body Had Other Plans”

Local clinic owner shares her own remarkable recovery story

When you run a busy clinic helping others get out of pain, you don’t expect to become the patient.

But that’s exactly what happened to Claire, clinic owner and experienced clinician, after a seemingly harmless game of pickleball late last year.

“I actually tore two hernias playing,” she explains. “At first, I just knew something wasn’t right.”

After an initial assessment with her chiropractor, Claire was told she likely had a groin hernia. Wanting clarity, she followed it up with a GP visit and an ultrasound.

“The results showed I had two—an inguinal hernia and a groin hernia. One of them was pressing on my femoral nerve, which explained the discomfort and nerve symptoms I was experiencing.”

Like many Australians, Claire was then placed on the public waiting list for surgery. The message was clear: hernias don’t heal on their own.

But instead of waiting passively, Claire made a decision that would change everything.

“I was told surgery was the only option,” she says. “But I also knew the capabilities of ANF Therapy—I’ve seen it help hundreds of people. So I thought, why not apply it to myself in a very intentional way?”

Claire committed fully to her recovery. She rested for six weeks, applied ANF discs consistently, and completed around six targeted treatments using ANF devices.

Then something unexpected happened.

“I started improving—significantly. Not just a little bit… I was getting back to normal life.”

By the time her surgical appointment came around—six months after the original injury—Claire was no longer living like someone waiting for surgery.

“I was back playing pickleball. I was lifting 30-kilo tents while camping. I was functioning normally again.”

When the surgeon examined her, the outcome was surprising.

“She checked thoroughly and said, based on my symptoms and what she could feel, I no longer required surgery. Essentially, there was no hernia present.”

For Claire, it was more than just a personal win—it was powerful confirmation of what she’s been witnessing in her clinic for years.

“This was different,” she reflects. “I had been clearly told this couldn’t heal without surgery. Yet here I am.”

Now 51 and maintaining what she describes as peak condition, Claire continues to use ANF Therapy both personally and professionally.

“It came into my life 10 years ago, and it’s been the most fascinating and rewarding part of my health career. The best part is seeing people get their lives back—often much faster than they ever expected.”

Her message is simple:

“If you’re dealing with pain, injury, or something you’ve been told will ‘just get worse’—there may be another way. You don’t always have to accept the first answer you’re given.”
